Confidentiality Policy

Purpose: 

Nonprofit Network frequently obtains highly sensitive information from Trustees and Leadership Staff of our members and clients.  All nonprofits need a trusted resource to discuss, problem solve and receive technical assistance on a wide range of critical issues, like dissolution, human relations, legal and ethical questions, and governance issues.  This policy defines what is and what is not confidential and the steps we take to keep sensitive information confidential. 

Definition: 

Nonprofit Network is a membership organization, and it should be assumed that all members take advantage of member benefits.  Our membership list and the list of active clients is not considered confidential.  Our membership list is posted on our website, and we actively share in the promotion of our members’ missions and programs.  While the names of members and clients whom we serve are not considered confidential, the nature of the service we provide to them is considered confidential and will not be shared unless authorized by the individual client or member in question.

Nonprofit Network is committed to ensuring that every effort is made to protect sensitive information.  Client records are stored as indicated in our Document Retention Schedule. Respecting the privacy of our clients, donors, members, Staff, volunteers, and Nonprofit Network itself is a core value of Nonprofit Network.  Maintaining professional integrity and safe-guarding information that is confidential, privileged, or proprietary is critical to our success and our ability to serve our membership.

Nonprofit Network takes appropriate care and is diligent to ensure that unauthorized individuals do not overhear any discussion of confidential or sensitive information and that documents (including flip charts, meeting notes and processes) are not inadvertently shared or left in the open. 

Nonprofit Network defines clients as organizations who have contracted with Nonprofit Network for services in addition to membership benefits.  Nonprofit Network is often asked to perform services on behalf of a third party and this third party pays for the services to be performed.  In these situations, unless otherwise noted at the time of proposed services, Nonprofit Network will reveal to the recipient of services that a third party exists and the nature of that agreement.  Nonprofit Network will only confirm to the third party that services were delivered and that the proposed goals were achieved.  Nonprofit Network will ensure that every effort is made to protect sensitive and confidential information.

Refund Policy

Our organization works to keep fees affordable while covering the real costs of training, events, and membership services. Because many of our programs require advance planning, materials, and limited seating, the following refund policy applies.

Workshops, Trainings, and Events

Registration fees for workshops, trainings, webinars, and events are refundable only under the conditions below:

• Full refunds will be issued if cancellation is requested at least 7 days prior to the event date.

• Cancellations requested fewer than 7 days before the event are not eligible for a refund, but registration may be transferred to another participant or applied as a credit toward a future program, at our discretion.

• No refunds will be issued for no-shows.

• If the organization cancels or reschedules an event, participants may choose a full refund or transfer to another session.

Membership Dues

Membership dues support ongoing services, resources, and operational costs and are non-refundable once payment has been processed.

Membership benefits begin immediately upon payment and may include access to materials, discounts, training, or member-only services. Because these benefits are available right away, refunds are not provided for unused membership time.

Online Courses and Digital Products

Fees for recorded trainings, downloadable materials, or other digital products are non-refundable once access has been granted, unless required by law.

Payment Errors

If you believe you were charged in error, please contact us within 10 business days of the transaction. Verified billing errors will be corrected promptly.

Exceptions

We understand that unexpected situations occur. Requests for exceptions may be submitted in writing and will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Approval of exceptions is not guaranteed.
