As a capacity builder, Fred focuses on promoting communication skills that bring people together.  As a trainer certified by the Center for Nonviolent Communication
he uses a style of communication that addresses the needs of those you come into contact with such as friends, clients, business associates, employees and board members.  These relationship skills are the key to understanding, growth and success.  In the last several years Fred has facilitated Compassionate Communication workshops through Compassionate Ministries of Jackson County for various nonprofit organizations, businesses, schools, and churches. Fred has also now joined the Cross Cultural Council and is a facilitator for Cross-Cultural Conversations.

Prior to being a board member of the Compassionate Ministries of Jackson County and then later employed by them as the Administrative Director he was employed by the Michigan Department of Corrections (M.D.O.C.) for 37 years. Fred worked in various positions including Acting Warden.  He was an initial member of the Michigan Prisoner Reentry Initiative, has worked with various judges, law enforcement agencies, community organizations and members of the Michigan Legislative Body.  Also while employed with the MDOC, he facilitated Healing of Racism Workshops for staff and was a member of the State of Michigan Traumatic Incident Stress Management Team. He was assigned to the Michigan Healthy Marriage Coalition to assist in writing the five million dollar grant that assisted in establishing relationship programs throughout Southeast Michigan including Marriage Matters in Jackson.
